Migratory Voting Militia

A friend showed me the site FundRace.org which has a couple of interesting tools including one that let's you see who is making campaign contributions in your neighborhood.

They even make nice graphics that plot contributions on a map:

When looking at San Francisco, I can't help but notice that we have plenty of people making contributions to the Democrats (the blue dots above). I would guess there are many places throughout the country where one party will dominate each election. One could even say there is a surplus of liberal voting citizens in San Francisco. They simply don't need that many bodies to win the district.

Winning the disctrict. In America, it's all about winning districts to win a state to win the electoral votes. So if you are voting in a district that your party is going to win, wouldn't your vote matter more if it was cast in a district your part was struggling to win?

I propose the creation of a Migratory Voting Militia. These are a group die-hard fanatics that migrate around the country to make their vote count.

It's kind of the opposite of gerrymandering. Rather than redrawing the district lines around clumps of voters, you just move the voters.

So instead of giving extra money to your party or going door to door, one could join a band of Migratory Voters who move to swing districts. A party could have a group of die hard voters whose sole job is to migrate to districts en mass and establish residency to vote in the upcoming election.

I'm guessing this isn't legal, but I thought I'd share anyways : )
