Guitar Hero II

We have all been collectively blessed today with Guitar Hero 2. It’s a magnificently executed gem that’s a fitting cap to the end of the PS2. In fact, it’s so good that I reckon Sony will sell quite a few of the dated consoles just for this game.

If you’ve played the original, then you most certainly already know about how great this game is. The only thing I can tell you is that the new controller is of sturdier construction, but suffers from a critical flaw: It’s buttons are a higher than the original and thus prevent smooth slides.

I can also share with you that there is an unlockable Shadows Fall song, and it is the epic “The Light that Blinds”. Play a few songs on Hard mode and you’ll have enough cash to unlock it and experience it’s glorious challenge.

Oh yeah, if you are really ripping on a solo, take a look at your character’s hands, they’ll be in flames.

The staleness was getting to me, so rather than writing new content I decided to install K2 and also a spiffy style from Gigi’s Sandbox. I had these grand plans for making use of the frames from a timelapse I did. Now that I’m using K2, I think I will try to work it in as a module.

J2ME Gmail released

Google has released their J2ME Gmail client today and it’s fantastic. Much like their excellent mobile mapping client, gmail for the phone really pushes user expectations for the mobile experience.

The most brilliant part is that it basically creates push email for non-blackberry/goodlink phones. I’m running it on my Sony Ericsson k800i and it’s fantastic – quick, readable, useful.
