Review: Heroes

The best new TV show I’ve seen in a long time is on tonight and I’m guessing you aren’t watching it yet. I recommend finding a copy of the season premier of Heroes and taking a look at it. It’s kind of a comic book superhero genesis story which is how one would describe the world’s first X-Men. The first humans to reach the next evolutionary step.
Character’s range from the loveable teleporting salary-man a web-cam stripper with some near psychotic power that isn’t yet clear. The pacing is quite good, allowing them to develop the characters but also advance the plot. Lots of elements remain hidden, but they don’t seem to be moving at the glacial pace of ‘Lost’. At the same time, it is an approachable character driven sci-fi show, and they likely drew from the successful template used in Lost and the recent Spider-Man movies.
The thing that is a bit different than these successes is the level of gore and darkness. It’s just a bit grittier.
I watched the first 2 episodes last night and was glued to the screen. I was hesitant at first, but now it’s perma-tivo’d.
Bottom-line: off to a great start, hope they don’t screw it up or cancel it.

Hi Ed, found your blog via Tagsona.
Watched the pilot last night (hard to find it here in Germany), and I have to agree — very cool so far. Can’t wait to see the next few episodes…
