So nice… this was probably in the original announcement but I only just realized that the Sony W810i is quad band. The phone was announced quite a while ago as an update to the very nice W800. This version supports EDGE and has some small improvements to the chassis. Most important is the improved 5-way which reduces those accidental selections. I’m really interested in the quality of the 2MP camera. Cal uses one of Sony’s phones that is quite similar to this one and I’ve always been impressed by that phone’s flash.
What’s a little annoying is that phones like this get a flurry of coverage on the blogs that are part of the tech hype machine (engadget, gizmodo, etc…) when they are announced, but no coverage when they are actually available. So consider this your official announcement that yes, that phone you read about last year is finally available for sale.

This week’s video is for all of you that are thinking to yourselves, “Hey, I’ve got $160k to spend on a car, which is it going to be? Lambo or Ferrari?”

I wish BP would bring this 102 Octane Gasoline on over to California. Looks like it’s about $20 a gallon, but that sure would be fun to rip around town with that running in the ol’ car. I guess it’s good that they don’t cause then I’d be broke and need a new set of tires.

I work with a lot of famous folks who have highly trafficked blogs. Most of the time I’ve been a reader of their sites before meeting them here. In all honesty, I’m the least known person in my group.
Sometimes though, I find that one of my friends has a blog, and in Ernie’s case, I’m the last person in the world to know. I was completely surprised to find Ernie’s hilariousness on Little Yellow Different. Actually, I have no idea why I’m writing this because I am the last person who has internet access to know that Ernie has a blog. Sigh… sucks to be out of it.

I just got my DVD of all of the BMW Films last week and I had a chance to watch some of them last night. The DVD is no longer available for purchase but I was able to get a promotional copy from BMW. It’s the least they could do right?
One of the films, “The Follow” is directed by Wong Kar Wai, known for some really moody, beautiful films. I’ve been a big fan of his since first seeing Chungkin Express and Fallen Angels and this short he did for BMW didn’t dissapoint. Interestingly, this film is also known for not being on the commercial DVD release because of the performance by Forest Whitaker. Apparently his contract was only for online distribution and not offline.
In the film is a really beautiful Cuban ballad which is often searched for by people who have seen this film. The song is called “Mi Unicornio Azul” and it’s composed by Silvio Rodriguez. The particular arrangement used in the film is done by Jeff Rona and the singer is Cecilia Noel. Most people looking for this song are actually trying to find the arrangement where Cecilia is singing which is available on Jeff’s site: “Mi Unicornio Azul”
If you are interested in how the song works with the film and Wong Kar-Wai’s style you can check out the film on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HeM7mNUtn0
