The good and the bad (maybe not so bad)…
New job has lots of goods:
- lot’s of really good coffee from handy cafes around campus. I’m talking chai lattes, regular lattes, double espresso shots, etc… It’s good stuff, and free.
- Killer gym, right across the courtyard from me. It’s open 24/7 which means I can cancel my gym membership.
- Then there is the work, the people, and a bazillion other useful perks like on-site haircuts, oil changes, notary service, good medical, etc…
There is the bad though:
- I’ve got my work laptop sitting next to my personal laptop as I type this. When you do this it becomes painfully obvious that my personal laptop is far better in every way. The screen is 1600×1200 native and is as bright as a very good LCD display. It’s also super sharp in comparison and the laptop itself is just better designed and is much faster.
It’s the top of the line T42p from Lenovo. Unfortunately my work gave me a Compaq nc6220. The Compaq isn’t bad by itself, but it really sucks compared the T42p. If the worst of it is that my laptop doesn’t stand up to the greatest windows laptop ever made, then I guess there isn’t anything to complain about.
