It’s bluegrass, it’s real fast, and it’s awesome live. Split Lip Rayfield came Friday and put on a great show at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.
To describe their music is difficult, and I think the best description is just to call them bluegrass. It’s just fast, really fast, we’re talking banjo blazin’, mandolin thrashing fast. The songs are fun and rocking, and will definitely appeal to a young audience.
Personally I think if you are the kind of person who likes fast heavy metal (megadeth, slayer, old metallica) AND you like bluegrass, then you will love thier sound.
I also have to mention that odd bass that they use, just because you can’t talk about Split Lip Rayfield without mentioning it. It’s a gas tank, I believe it’s a Ford. Yep, a gas tank turned upright bass by attaching a neck to it and cutting some F-holes and then it’s strung with a single wire from a weed wacker. It’s perfect.
My kind of music… check ‘em out if they are coming your way. It’s sure to be a good time. Tour is on right now and the dates are on their site.

This was posted today in the World of Warcraft forums. It was taken on the Test Realm server that currently is running a version with the Honor System in place. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more scenes like this after the new patch is rolled out.
It’s too bad that it’ll initially be a lag fest.

So what should you do when servers are down or you can’t log on to get your fix? Many people turn to the forums, where you’ll find insightful commentary and also a lot of idiocy. Unfortunately, you’ll be stuck viewing everything because there is no moderation system.
Instead take a look at some of the best addicted bloggers. AFKGamer is one of my favorites as well as the CessPit.
AFK frequently has entertaining screenshots of funny moments in game as well as commentary on our chosen “lifestyle”.
The CessPit provides some of the best commentary on the weaknesses of the game and he manages to engage Blizzard about his concerns with the forthcoming Honor System. A warning though, both are MMO veterans and occasionaly their writing shows the jaded edge of a gamer who’s grinded through one too many poorly designed dungeon.

I’m out of doughnuts. But I did have a bunch this weekend… mmmm…
Yeah, so daylight savings is great because I get to walk home when it’s light out. Makes me feel like a human being instead of a cave dweller.
So daylight savings sucks because it’s 12:32am and I can sleep. Time to drag out the PSP and practice Lumines.
If you’ve ever played Lumines against someone much better than you, then you know what it feels like to be the stupid kid.
Oh, and a friend was quick to point out that the #1 launch title for PSP was Untold Legends. Suprise suprise, it’s the game sitting on my floor unopened.
