Missing Mac Mini -> Edward’s Mac Mini

She’s nice, real nice. Strange but nice.

I think I need to find a site or blog about OSX for Linux users. There are all sorts of weird things that just don’t make sense. I love that Terminal uses bash, but why is there not an ‘ls’ that supports dircolors on this machine? Why is root disabled and what is the account’s password?

Also, why does Mail force you to configure a “standard” POP/IMAP/.Mac account before you can even reach the interface to add an account that requires SSL like Gmail?

Strange, oh well time to try WoW on the mac, preliminary tests don’t look good.

It’s here!

Welcome home Missing Mac Mini!

It arrived at my door around 10:30 am…
Tonight when I get home from work it’ll get hooked up with my 20″ LCD using it’s DVI port and a copy of World of Warcraft.

Then I’ll give iPhoto a try and upload some pictures to Flickr.
It’s been a long wait but now we can start our life together.
A big thank you goes out to Barb at TUAW and to all the Apple employees that cared enough to make my Mac fantasy become reality.

Happy One Month Anniversary Missing Mac Mini!

It’s been more than one crappy month and you are still no where to be found.
I wonder how much worse Apple’s customer support can get?

and ye will be much punished…

Well, they had hoped to ship me a Mac Mini within the first half of the week but it’s still not shipped yet. At least I got a call though apologizing, and expressing the hope that it will ship later on this week. Words like hope, faith and prayer are appropriate for describing this transaction. It’s as if I’m being condemned by the Apple Gods for having used a PC for so many years. Many many years spent worshipping at the altar of Intel and AMD chips, overclocked celerons, 3dfx, and nVidia graphics cards huddled over Win32 Api docs and DirectX code.

Now without the proper rituals, prayers, and sacrifices no Mac Mini will be delivered. It can be paid for, but not delivered until the Gods are satisfied.
