World of Warcraft and Porsches

Well, World of Warcraft had been out for a couple of weeks before I began my first quest. I had my first taste of the product during the beta and I’ve been enamored with it since.

My first quest however wasn’t in game. My first quest was trying to find a copy of the damn thing. Who knew demand would be so ridiculous. I almost felt bad for SOE looking at all those copies of EQ2 sitting on the shelves as I checked in at the 4th store in 1 day looking for a copy of WoW.

And then there was the pathetic sight of the latest crap-in-a-box for Ultima Online. Damn, are they really so out of ideas that they have to resort to samurai’s? What next, introduce robots ? Just put the beast out of it’s misery, it’s long been cancered and the best thing to do now is to put it down.

After finally getting in game, I found plenty of servers and settled quickly into Boulderfist, a sparsely populated PvP server. Now I’m happily leveling a rogue on my way to some PvP combat.

Also, my new machine has arrived today. The first desktop I’ve ever purchased whole and it should run like a gazelle. A little overpowered for WoW, but it should render hellspawn from doom 3 the way they are meant to be seen. We also can’t forget the glory that will be Battlefield 2. My favorite part about it are the dual 10k rpm drives in a RAID0 configuratino with 4.2 ms seek times. Ah… the beauty of fast drives.

In other news, the new 997 is on Porsche’s website now. It’s a thing of beauty and I have no power to resist it. There’s a nice review and pics at The truth about cars.
